Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has provided a squad update ahead of his side's away Premier League fixture at Bournemouth at the weekend.

Defender Toby Alderweireld picked up an injury for Spurs last weekend and as a result was not involved in the White Hart Lane side's 0-0 draw away at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League earlier this week.

And while Pochettino is pleased with Alderweireld's progress, he revealed the Belgium international is not fit enough to face the Cherries. The Spurs manager also declared himself happy with the progress Harry Kane is making in his bid to return from injury.

"Good news on Toby Alderweireld, but it's still painful and he will miss out", Pochettino told a press conference.

"We're happy with the progress Harry Kane is making", he added.

Spurs also need to run the rule over left-back Danny Rose ahead of their game with Bournemouth, Pochettino revealed, as the defender hurt his foot in Germany.

"We need to assess Danny Rose tomorrow", he said.

"He got a bruise on his foot against Leverkusen on Tuesday."

Following a draw away at West Brom in the Premier League last weekend, Pochettino will be keen for his side to return to winning ways against Bournemouth.
