Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane has revealed that his relationship with Garry Monk has become stronger throughout his short time at Elland Road.

Monk snapped up the Ireland international from Bournemouth in the summer and in a short span of time, O’Kane has become a key member of the Leeds squad this season.

The midfielder has become a lynchpin in the Leeds midfield in Liam Bridcutt’s absence and Monk relies on the 26-year-old heavily to provide leadership to the young players on the pitch.

And O’Kane also revealed that he shares a strong bond with the Leeds United manager and admits that Monk was clear about what he wanted from him when he joined the club in the summer.

When asked about his relationship with the Leeds manager, the midfielder told TV Yorkshire: “He is very good; can’t say anything else, can I? [Laughs]

“The gaffer has been excellent, he brought me in and we had quite a long conversation on the role he sees me playing in, what he wanted from me and I think our relationship has gone from strength to strength.

“I can’t say a bad word about him.”

O’Kane is expected to be one of the first names on Monk’s teamsheet when Leeds take on Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
