Rangers boss Mark Warburton is planning to have a drink with his Celtic counterpart Brendan Rodgers after Sunday's Scottish League Cup semi-final clash between the two managers' respective teams.

The Old Firm rivals will lock horns for the second time in the season at Hampden Park this weekend with an eye towards the League Cup final, which is just a step away.

The Gers will have one other factor on their mind in the form of revenge, after being humiliated 5-1 by the Hoops the last time they met back in September in a Scottish Premiership fixture.

Rodgers and Warburton worked together at Watford earlier in their respective careers, but the Rangers manager revealed that he has not socialised with his Celtic counterpart as he does not have the time.

“Everyone works seven days a week in football and you don’t get time to really socialise", Warburton told his club's official website.

“In truth people should make more effort, me included, to make contact but it’s just the way it is."

Warburton will though make time to have a drink with Rodgers after the game, no matter what the result is.

“I will have a drink with him after the game, win, lose or draw we’ll always have a drink. Hampden is a bit different but at Ibrox we will and we did at Parkhead.

“You go in and show your face and you show common courtesy.”
