Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he is expecting a tactical and close battle with Manchester United on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho effectively neutralised Liverpool’s attacking threat by stifling their creative players with his system when Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield on Monday night.

And many expect the Manchester United manager to again be cautious on his return to Stamford Bridge on Sunday and Conte admits that he is expecting another tactical battle.

The Chelsea boss watched Manchester United’s game against Liverpool and admits that the teams paid a lot of attention to cancelling out each other on Monday night.

And he feels that on Sunday the game could be a similar battle as when two top teams face each other, tactical preparation is always important.

Conte said in a press conference, when asked whether Manchester United could adopt a similar defensive approach on Sunday as they did at Anfield: “I watched it and it was a very tough game between two very good teams who I think will fight for the title.

“It was tactical game and we saw two teams who paid great attention when they were without the ball.

“On Sunday it will be a tactical game as once two good teams face each other it’s important to prepare the tactical aspect.

“Difficult to say whether it will be offensive or defensive, but it can be a tactical game.”
