Former England defender Danny Mills feels Arsenal’s mentality will again come under the scanner after they played out a 0-0 draw at home against Middlesbrough.

The Gunners dispatched Ludogorets Razgrad in the Champions League with panache in midweek with a 6-0 win, but came up short when they took on Middlesbrough, who started the day in the relegation zone.

They failed to create many clear cut chances against Aitor Karanka’s men and if not for Petr Cech’s heroics in goal, Arsene Wenger’s side could have finished the game empty handed.

With Manchester City not playing, Wenger’s men had the opportunity to put pressure on them with a win at home, but they failed to take their chance and Mills feels it again brings forward the question of whether they have the right kind of mentality to win the league.

The former defender said on the BBC's Final Score programme: “How many times have we seen this from Arsenal?

“Get themselves in a great position, opportunity to go top and they don't quite grasp it.

“Is it going to be another season like that for Arsenal fans?”

Arsenal did move ahead of Manchester City to occupy top spot, but Pep Guardiola’s men only need a point on Sunday against Southampton to regain their position.
