Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists he has great respect for Jose Mourinho, following what appeared to be the Manchester United boss taking issue with something when speaking to the Italian.

At the end of a Premier League game at Stamford Bridge which saw Chelsea take Manchester United apart to win 4-0, Mourinho headed over to Conte to shake his hand.

However, the Portuguese leaned in to speak to the Italian and delivered a lengthy message into his ear, appearing to have taken issue with something which happened during the match.

Conte did urge on the crowd, raising his arms, near the end of the game and with Chelsea leading 4-0, but it is unclear whether that was the subject of Mourinho's message.

Mourinho was unwilling to explain what he said to Conte after the match and the Italian is also taking a vow of silence.

He told the BBC: "When there is a private conversation it is right to remain private.

"I have great respect for Jose, he is a great manager and he won a lot here", Conte added.

Conte deployed his 3-4-3 system in the match and the Italian is happy it is the right way forward for his side, who had conceded goals and lost big games to Arsenal and Liverpool before he implemented the tactical switch.

"It is important for the manager to find the right solution for your team.

"It was not a good situation when Chelsea conceded in every game.

"We change and now we are playing good football."
