Jose Mourinho has refused to reveal what the subject of his lengthy conversation with Antonio Conte at the final whistle of Chelsea's 4-0 win over Manchester United was.

It took just 34 seconds for Chelsea to take the lead at Stamford Bridge as a pass split the Manchester United defence, confusing Chris Smalling and bringing David de Gea out, but nowhere near the ball, and Pedro Rodriguez scored.

Gary Cahill made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute, before Eden Hazard killed off any Manchester United hopes by scoring in the 62nd minute. And when N'Golo Kante surged forward to crack a shot into the corner of the net, it was 4-0 and Manchester United were reeling.

Conte turned to the crowd as the match approached its end and urged them to out-sing the Manchester United fans, which they then did.

And at the final whistle, Mourinho went to shake Conte's hand and delivered a lengthy message into the Italian's ear.

The Portuguese, who was unahppy with his side's defensive performance, was unwilling to reveal what he said to the Chelsea manager.

Asked on Sky Sports, Mourinho said: "It was with Antonio. My words were with Antonio were for him, not for you."

And Mourinho insisted that his side paid the price for not defending properly.

"It is one of those days when you give the advantage to opponents by doing nothing.

"We made incredible defensive mistakes, individual mistakes and you pay for that", he added.
