Ex-Chelsea star Pat Nevin has called on Blues manager Antonio Conte not to make too many changes to his starting line-up for their EFL Cup game against West Ham United on Wednesday.

The Stamford Bridge outfit, who have been playing in the 3-4-3 system for the last three matches, thrashed Manchester United 4-0 in the Premier League on Sunday to move within touching distance of leaders Manchester City.

Although the West Ham game will come just three days after the clash against the Red Devils, Nevin is not in favour of Chelsea making a lot of changes for their trip to the Olympic Stadium.

The former winger, who is certain about Chelsea not altering their formation for the match against West Ham, however, is not opposed to the idea of the Blues making two to three changes for the EFL Cup game.

“I don't think you change a whole bunch. Don't go and change seven or eight”, Nevin told Chelsea TV.

“You almost certainly keep the system the same. Work with the guys who have done well at the back, maybe bring JT [John Terry] back for game time if he's up to it.

“But keep as similar, but maybe two or three changes.”

Chelsea, who are just one point behind leaders Manchester City, are in a rich vein of form, having won their last three Premier League matches without conceding a single goal.
