Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes being tactically out-thought by Antonio Conte will torture Jose Mourinho, following Manchester United’s 4-0 loss at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues, who have been playing in the 3-4-3 system in recent weeks, went ahead inside the opening minute through Pedro Rodriguez’s strike, with Garry Cahill doubling the hosts’ advantage in the 21st minute.

Further goals from Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante after the break made Mourinho’s return to his former stomping ground a nightmare as the Red Devils had no answer to Chelsea’s sleek counter-attacking play.

And Nevin, who insisted that none of Mourinho’s tactics worked against the Blues, thinks the Portuguese tactician will be tortured by the thought of being out-thought by his Chelsea counterpart Conte.

“I would imagine Jose Mourinho is a wee bit miffed with his defence [for the early goal]”, he said after the game on Chelsea TV.
