Leeds United Under-23 coach Jason Blunt is impressed at how many young players the club's academy keeps bringing through.

The Yorkshire giants are renowned for having a strong youth development system and they are continuing to churn out home-grown talents, with two, in the shape of Sam Byram and Lewis Cook, having moved to Premier League clubs in 2016.

Blunt's Under-23 squad has been stretched by players being promoted to the first team and as a result he has had to dip into the younger age groups, with the Under-23s now regularly fielding 16-year-olds.

For Blunt, how Leeds keep developing talents is impressive and he noted that up to five 16-year-olds were on the pitch for the Under-23s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

"We had four or five 16 year olds on", the coach told LUTV.

"It just shows how far we're coming as an academy and we do continue to produce player after player.

"We've got loads in the first team now, but it seems to be never-ending at the moment", Blunt added.

Currently Leeds have seven home-grown players in the first team squad, in the shape of Charlie Taylor, Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira, Alex Mowatt, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Lewie Coyle and Tyler Denton.

Two more, Alex Purver and Frank Mulhern, are out on loan.
