Liverpool's potential interest in Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has been played down, with no signs the Reds are at present chasing the Italian.

Insigne has been linked with Liverpool at various points in his career and talk of fresh interest has been doing the rounds of late, with speculation that Napoli may be ready to sell for the right price.

But according to Italian radio station Radio Marte, there is no indication that Jurgen Klopp's men are actively looking to sign Insigne at present.

It had even been suggested that the Napoli man's agent was to hold talks with Liverpool in an effort to push through a switch for his client in the new year, but such suggestions appear wide of the mark.

Napoli are claimed to be looking for around €50m if they are to allow the Italy international to leave.

Still just 25 years old, Insigne came through Napoli's youth set-up and made his Serie A bow in 2010.

He starred under Rafael Benitez during the Spaniard's reign at the club and helped Napoli collect the Coppa Italia in the 2013/14 campaign.

Insigne has been capped by Italy at senior level, winning 12 caps for the Azzurri.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool do make an approach for his services as the January transfer window draws closer.
