Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his team are likely to have a difficult evening when they take on Liverpool at Anfield in an EFL Cup tie on Tuesday night.

Both sides have been in good form of late, with the Reds holding a one-point lead over the north Londoners in the Premier League after nine matches each.

However, the EFL Cup presents a different proposition and the former Southampton manager insists that Jurgen Klopp's team are going to pose serious questions for Spurs.

Another fact that Pochettino insists will have to be taken into consideration is that the Reds do not have European football to think about, hinting that as a result they could be fresher.

"It's always difficult to play a big team like Liverpool", Pochettino told Spurs TV.

"It'll be tough. They aren't in Europe and have a very strong squad."

With his team having three games in the space of eight days and the EFL Cup coming in as the third, just two days after their encounter against Bournemouth, the Argentine manager insists that he will have to make sure that everyone feels that they are ready to play.

There will be change in goal for the north Londoners, with skipper Hugo Lloris set to be replaced by Michel Vorm.

"It's important that everyone in the squad feels they can play. Vorm will play, he is very experienced and a top goalkeeper."
