Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is not happy with his current position within the squad, but being a thorough professional he never shows his frustration in training.

The Liverpool number one lost his place recently to team-mate Loris Karius, who has started each of his side's last four Premier League matches.

The Belgian however is expected to regain his place between the sticks for the EFL Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

Asked about Mignolet, the manager said that the Belgian is an out-and-out professional who is coping with having been dropped from the team well.

Klopp says that while Mignolet is not happy to be out of the team, he does not let it show in his work ethic in training.

"He is a very serious player, a good professional. He’s still not happy but you cannot see it in training. He is hard working and improving", Klopp said at a pre-match press conference.

The manager also took time to give his opinion about the team's current fun of form, insisting that there are multiple areas on the pitch where they can improve.

"Nobody feels that it’s not possible to play better.

"We can defend better, we can attack better, we can create better. A better balance in the game.

"If there weren’t things to improve we could go on holiday all week and then just meet on Saturdays."
