Rob Kiernan has urged Rangers to bounce back from their Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to bitter rivals Celtic.

The centre-back clocked up the full 90 minutes at Hampden as Rangers struggled to land serious blows on Celtic and went down to an 87th minute strike from Moussa Dembele.

Rangers have a quick opportunity to get back to winning ways when St Johnstone visit Ibrox for a Scottish Premiership clash on Wednesday and Kiernan, while still feeling disappointed with the semi-final loss, is keen for them to grab it.

He wrote on Twitter: "Disappointing result and hurts to lose, but we go again on Wednesday night."

Rangers are currently fifth in the Premiership standings with 15 points from nine games, seven behind leaders Celtic, who boast a game in hand on Mark Warburton's men.

The visit of St Johnstone is one of two successive home league games for the Gers, with Kilmarnock due to arrive at Ibrox on Saturday.

Warburton will be targeting a maximum six points from the two matches as he looks to convince the Rangers faithful he has the team on the right track despite defeats to Celtic in the last two months.

Rangers next play Celtic on 31st December at Ibrox.
