Burnley manager Sean Dyche feels Rangers midfielder Joey Barton just fitted with the Clarets during his stay ay Turf Moor.

The former Newcastle United midfielder played a pivotal role in Burnley winning the Championship and earning promotion to the Premier League last season, but Barton opted to move to Scotland with Rangers in the summer.

However, things have gone from bad to worse for the 34-year-old midfielder at Ibrox and the midfielder has been serving a suspension from the club since last month after being involved in a training ground bust-up with Andy Halliday.

There are suggestions that there is no way back for Barton at Rangers and many feel the temperamental midfielder will eventually leave the club sooner rather than later.

However, Barton had little to no trouble during his stint at Burnley and was even nominated in the Championship Team of the Year for his performances last season.

Dyche feels that it has hard to explain why the midfielder succeeded at Turf Moor, but he thinks Barton just fitted right in with the squad during his stay at Burnley.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, the Burnley boss said: “Sometimes it just works.

“Sometimes it just fits and there is no clear definition for it.

“He fitted with us, we fitted with him.”
