Lille could well quickly emerge as a potential destination for Mamadou Sakho, who has been frozen out of the first team picture by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Sakho has been in Klopp's bad books since Liverpool's pre-season tour in the United States, from which he was sent home early.

The French defender also recently caused controversy by insisting he has been fit to play for some time, contradicting his manager, who claimed he was still injured.

Sakho rejected the chance to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but the defender is claimed to be concerned about his international fortunes as he eyes a spot in the France squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

And Lille could well take advantage of the situation.

According to French outlet Sport365.fr, former Monaco sporting director Luis Campos has joined forces with Gerard Lopez, who is looking to buy Lille, and has Sakho very much in his sights.

Lille could move to sign Sakho from Liverpool in the winter transfer window, though it is unclear whether the French club would aim for a loan deal or a permanent switch.

Sakho meanwhile may hope his situation at Liverpool changes before the new year.
