Neil Mellor is certain that Liverpool players who have been used sparingly will feature in the EFL Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur tonight, will do a good job and continue the Reds’ momentum.

The Merseyside giants have been in great form in the present campaign, losing just one game in all competitions, a 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League in August.

Liverpool, who beat Burton Albion and Derby County by 5-0 and 3-0 margins respectively in the previous rounds of the EFL Cup, made several changes to their starting line-ups for the games.

However, the players coming in such as Divock Origi and Marko Grujic did a commendable job in keeping Liverpool’s momentum intact.

And Mellor, who thinks manager Jurgen Klopp will again chop and change his squad for the cup game against Spurs, insisted that he has full faith that Liverpool doing well in the contest.

“I think the two games we certainly felt we should have won, we were expected to win those games, Burton in the Championship and Derby in the Championship”, he told LFC TV.

“He made changes for both games, Jurgen Klopp, I think four initially for Burton early on in the season and seven against Derby.

“We have mentioned that Liverpool have great momentum at the moment, there’s a real feel-good factor within the club.

“No matter how many changes, four or five, seven in the previous round, the players coming in are still doing a very good job.

“They haven’t had a lot of game time, but there’s a feel-good factor there, they know exactly what is expected of them because of the management, the coaching staff, so they are coming in and doing extremely well.

“I have every confidence that if there are changes, I expect there will be against Tottenham, those players coming in will again continue this momentum Liverpool are having at the moment.”

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Spurs in the Premier League in late August.
