Leeds United manager Garry Monk has insisted that a midweek cup game is not a problem for his team as they have been dealing with a hectic schedule for some time this season.

The Yorkshire giants won at Wolves on Saturday to end their two-game winless streak in the Championship and had to immediately turn their focus towards the EFL Cup last 16 clash against Norwich tonight.

With little preparation time to boast of, the Whites are set to tackle one of the top teams of their division for a place in the quarter-final, but Monk has no complaints as he sees it as a sign of progress.

He also added that a Saturday-Tuesday routine is nothing new for Leeds this season as they have been dealing with a hectic schedule of games for some time now, so their preparation has been normal.

The Leeds manager said in a press conference: “We are happy to be playing in the midweeks, that means we have done well in the cups.

“That’s a good sign for us and what we will do is what we have done in all the games. We haven’t had a break, we have been playing Saturdays-Tuesdays pretty much all the way through.

“We have prepared the same as normal; we have focused on ourselves and any corrections we have to do and try and sort them out in the short period of time.

“It’s the same for Norwich as they played in the weekend.”

Following their EFL Cup exertions, Leeds will host Burton Albion at Elland Road on Saturday.
