Paris Saint-Germain considered making a move for Manchester United linked forward Antoine Griezmann during the summer transfer window, it has emerged, suggesting they are also tracking the France international.

The French forward has been in stupendous form for Atletico Madrid over the last few seasons, and was also the top scorer in the European Championship for France.




Griezmann has been attracting the prying eyes of a few European giants for a while and there is widespread speculation that Manchester United have marked him out as their top objective for next summer.

However, the forward could have moved to France this summer had PSG pulled the trigger on their interest in him during the transfer window.
 


According to L’Equipe, the French champions were considering making a move for Griezmann along with luring Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone to the Parc des Princes.

Simeone continued at Atletico Madrid and there are suggestions that the PSG hierarchy were not completely convinced about signing the French forward in the summer.

Griezmann was said to be interested in the idea of returning to France, but with PSG cooling down on their interest, he went on to sign a new contract with the Madrid giants.

He has already scored six goals for the club this season and is considered to one of the cornerstones of the Atletico Madrid’s plans for the future.

It remains to be seen whether PSG revisit their interest in Griezmann, something which could put them on a collision course with Manchester United.
