Divock Origi admits Liverpool enjoyed their EFL Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur after seeing off the north Londoners 2-1 at Anfield.

Both sides made a raft of changes to their starting elevens, with Jurgen Klopp making eleven changes for the hosts, and it was Liverpool who were dominant in the first half, enjoying the lion's share of possession.

The Reds scored in just the ninth minute through Daniel Sturridge, who turned well and made no mistake from around six yards out.

Liverpool continued to have the better of the match in the second half in what was a scrappy game and the Reds doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Origi combined well with Sturridge, the England striker slotting his second under Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Spurs though would not lie down and were given a penalty with 14 minutes left after Erik Lamela, on off the bench, was fouled.

Vincent Janssen made no mistake, but it was only a consolation for the visitors as it ended 2-1 to Liverpool.

And Origi admits that Liverpool enjoyed their evening's work under the Anfield lights.

"I think that we showed we have a lot of quality in the team, a lot of young players mixed with experienced players and we enjoyed the game", he told BBC Radio 5 live.

"Of course Daniel is a top striker and we're all very happy that we won.

"Now we have to continue and win in the next round.

"We try to help each other and play together.

"In the first 45 we had a lot of possession, but in the second half we took more risks and it was exciting to watch", Origi added.
