Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri admits there is something special going on at Elland Road under Garry Monk this season.

Through the heroics of the Italian goalkeeper, Leeds secured a place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup last night and it will be their second only appearance in the last eight of the competition in 20 years.

The Whites have also been in good form in the Championship since last month after a slow start to the season and are within touching distance of the playoff spots.

And Silvestri admits that there is something special happening at Leeds at the moment under the stewardship of Monk and feels anything could happen in the race for a playoff spot this term.

The Italian goalkeeper told BBC Radio Leeds: “I think we have a good team.

“The work has been good under the gaffer so I think we have a chance to show something special here.

“The Championship is very long and difficult but we are just three points from the playoffs, so you never know what might happen.

“We have to take one game at a time and at the end we will see the table.”

Leeds are currently 10th in the league table on 20 points, just three points off sixth placed Bristol City, who are occupying the last playoff spot.

They will host Burton Albion this Saturday at Elland Road.
