Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson says he does not care about a recent study which suggested frequently heading a football can result in memory loss and potential brain damage.

Jansson is regularly to be seen challenging to win headers as he looks to defend fiercely for Leeds and the Sweden international has added solidity to the Whites' backline.

The centre-back, on loan from Torino, admits he has been warned about the dangers of heading the ball, but claims he is not concerned about the impact, joking he is already stupid.

"I don't care about that", he said on a Skybet Facebook chat.

"My girlfriend's mother told me about that [the recent study], but I don't care about that."

Jansson has established himself as a firm favourite with the Leeds faithful since his arrival in the summer and is closing in on the 20 appearances mark needed to trigger a clause to make his loan move permanent.

The defender has formed a solid partnership with Kyle Bartley in the heart of the Whites' backline, helping Garry Monk's men vastly improve their form in the Championship and progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
