Leeds United manager Garry Monk has insisted that he is not thinking about playing Liverpool next month and has stressed the importance of his side keeping their focus on the Championship for the moment.

A penalty shootout win over Norwich City on Tuesday night ensured that Leeds are in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup for only the second time in 20 years and they have been drawn against Premier League giants Liverpool.

With a trip to Anfield beckoning next month, Leeds fans are already excited about seeing their side lock horns with one of the Premier League heavyweights but Monk is not thinking about the game at the moment.

He insisted that Leeds must not take their eye off the ball in the Championship and focus on Burton Albion’s trip to Elland Road on Saturday for the time being in order to maintain their form.

The Leeds manager told LUTV: "Last night's draw is for everyone else to enjoy.

“But we have four league games before that and our only focus is Burton.”

Leeds are currently tenth in the Championship table and Monk is naturally inclined towards keeping his side’s focus on the league for the moment.
