Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that young Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has impressed him with his performances this season.

The young winger, who broke through last season, has been proving his mettle with a number of impressive performances this term and has appeared seven times in nine league matches for the Gunners, providing his team-mates with two assists.

The youngster's performances have not failed to catch the experienced Scotsman's eye – and the legendary former Manchester United manager sees immense potential in him.

"I'm impressed with the young boy Alex Iwobi", Ferguson told German magazine Kicker.

Speaking about Iwobi's team Arsenal as a unit and their ability to win the league this season, the veteran said that the Gunners have been sturdy and have shown the kind of aggression that is needed for a team to win the title.

On other potential contenders, Ferguson said that it is likely to be five way fight with the two Manchester clubs, along with Tottenham and Liverpool, fighting for the coveted prize.

"I think there's five potential candidates: Manchester City as favourites, Tottenham and Liverpool, but also Man United are still there if we get some consistency soon.

"Even when you are trailing by six, eight points, it's still possible to catch one or two teams.

"And you shouldn't forget Arsenal. The team is more sturdy. They've got better and more aggressive."
