Young Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has thanked manager Mauricio Pochettino for showing faith in him and has stressed the need for him to keep working hard in order to push on.

The young defender, who recently signed a new contract with the club, played his second game of the season when the Lilywhites visited Anfield on Tuesday.

Though the match ended in disappointment for his team, with the visitors being knocked out of the EFL Cup by virtue of a 2-1 loss, it was a learning experience for the 18-year-old, who insists that the way things have progressed has satisfied him.

The United States Under-23 international also took time to acknowledge the help of his senior team-mates and his manager, who have helped him adapt to the first team picture.

And Carter-Vickers knows he must continue to put in a shift to make sure he keeps himself knocking on the door of first team football.

“All the players are very nice, they help you as a young player and the manager is very good.

"He obviously shows faith in young players, which is always good to know.

"Now I’ve got to keep working hard in training and keep pushing on."
