Leeds United striker Chris Wood believes his side’s win over Norwich City on Tuesday night showed the character the squad possess at Elland Road.

Wood scored in extra time to take the game to penalties in the EFL Cup round of 16 clash and also converted his spot kick as the Whites defeated Norwich 3-2 in a penalty shootout.

Leeds played the extra 30 minutes with a man down as Lewie Coyle had to leave the pitch because of a knee injury and the Yorkshire giants had already used up their three substitutes.

The New Zealand international feels the win over the Canaries showed the spirit of the Leeds team to fight against adversity and get a game over the line.

The Leeds forward added that Garry Monk’s squad are tightly knit bunch, which he feels is needed for any team do well in any competition or league.

“We have got a lot of character in the dressing room and we are going to show it every week.

“We have got a great squad here, a great team, we are tight as a unit, and yes, that’s what every team needs when they want to do well in a competition or in a league.

“And we are doing well.”

Leeds, who are currently tenth in the Championship table, will face Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup next month.
