David Hay feels although Saturday’s game against Aberdeen will be Celtic’s toughest challenge in the Scottish Premiership this season thus far, he still backs the Bhoys to win the contest at Pittodrie.

Celtic, who thrashed Aberdeen 4-1 at Paradise in the league earlier in the season, are yet to lose a domestic game in the present campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ team are currently seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand, with the Hoops also managing to reach the final of the Scottish League Cup, where they will face Aberdeen next month.

Celtic, who are aiming for their sixth consecutive league title, have also defeated Rangers twice in all competitions in the present campaign.

However, Hay, a former Celtic midfielder and manager, thinks the contest at Pittodrie will prove to be the Hoops’ hardest test in the league thus far in the present campaign even though he believes the Scottish champions will come out on top.

“It will be a difficult game”, he told Celtic TV, when asked about the upcoming game against Aberdeen.

“I was surprised Aberdeen lost last night [Tuesday], I thought at this stage they were going to challenge Celtic in the league.

“But they’ll want to make amends, they have a good atmosphere at Pittodrie.

"It will be a high intensity game and Brendan will obviously make some changes again for this game, bringing back more experienced players I would imagine.

“It will be a good game to watch as well, it will be a tight game I think, but I still think Celtic will come out on top with the way they are playing right now.

“It will be Celtic’s hardest task in the league, this game at Pittodrie, so far this season.”

Aberdeen, who lost 1-0 to Hamilton Academical earlier in the week, are currently second in the league with 18 points from 10 games.
