Rangers manager Mark Warburton has refused to disclose the club’s transfer budget for the January transfer window, but says he knows how much he will have to spend.

Warburton brought in an array of players in the summer to help Rangers cope with the pressure of playing in the Scottish Premiership after a four-year long absence.

However, the Glasgow giants have been inconsistent this season and have already lost twice to rivals Celtic twice, including a chastening 5-1 defeat at Parkhead last month.

Warburton is expected to dip into his transfer funds during the January window and look to add more new faces to his squad for the second half of the campaign, but the Rangers boss has played his cards close to his chest when asked about the club’s transfer budget.

When asked about the kind of funds that would be made available to him in January, the Rangers manager said in a press conference: “Who needs to know that?

“I am not going to reveal that obviously. I had private dialogue with the powers that be, but I am not going to sit in front of the cameras and say here I have X amount of money to spend.”

Asked whether he is aware of the budget, he said: “Of course and that’s the dialogue I referred to.”

Rangers are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership table on 16 points and will face Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday.
