Leeds United midfielder Matt Grimes believes he is slowly returning to his best after a difficult start to his campaign at Elland Road.

Garry Monk snapped up the young midfielder from his former club Swansea City on loan in the summer, but Grimes has so far struggled to stake a regular claim for a place in the Leeds team.

The 21-year-old has received limited opportunities in the Championship this season, but Grimes’ performance against Norwich on Tuesday night earned praise from many, including Monk.

The midfielder is aware of his poor form at the start of the season, but he is confident that he is getting back to his best and is hopeful of putting in better performances going forward.

Grimes told BBC Radio Leeds: “I feel like I am getting back to my best every day.

“Like I said it has been bit of a difficult start for me.

"But I feel like I am getting there.”

The highly rated Swansea midfielder has played just 316 minute of football over seven appearances in all competitions for Leeds this season and is keen to play more in the coming weeks and months to prove his credentials.

It remains to be seen if Monk will field Grimes against Burton on Saturday.
