AS Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim believes Radamel Falcao should have never moved to England following a serious knee injury a couple of years ago.

Falcao missed the 2014 World Cup in Brazil due to a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury, but joined Manchester United on loan in that year, where he failed miserably to find any kind of form.

A season later Chelsea took a punt on him and signed him on loan, but the Colombian did nothing of note in west London too and he returned to Monaco in the summer.

While injury issues have also persisted this season, Falcao has been in better form on the pitch and has scored four goals in seven appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit in the current campaign.

And Jardim feels after such a serious knee injury in 2014, it would have been better had the Colombian continued at the Stade Louis II, rather than move to England.

Jardim was quoted as saying by French outlet Maxifoot: “With Falcao the problem was not just his knee injury.

“It is also the fact that he left for two seasons to play for Manchester and Chelsea.

"He tried to continue to play at a high level, but normally when you have an injury like this, you stay at your club and try and return soon.

“I don’t know whether it was a mistake, but it was not a good decision.”

Falcao scored just five times in 36 Premier League appearances for Manchester United and Chelsea during his two-season stay in England.
