New Rangers striker Joe Garner has insisted that tap-ins are his favourite kind of goals to score.

The Englishman, who scored off a header in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone in a Scottish Premiership game at Ibrox on Wednesday night, was snapped up by the Gers from Preston North End on a three-year deal during the summer transfer window.

Garner has thus far scored twice in eight appearances in all competitions for Rangers, with his maiden goal for the club also being a header in the 5-1 loss to Celtic in the league last month.

However, the 28-year-old explained that he is happy to score tap-ins compared to finding the back of the net from long-rangers.

“Personally, I would like a tap-in”, Garner told Rangers TV, when asked his favourite kind of goal to score.

“I know it sounds daft to a 25-yard screamer, but I’m happy with a two-yard tap-in.”

Garner, who is contracted with Rangers until the summer of 2019, amassed 151 appearances for his former employers Preston North End, netting 57 times and providing 17 assists.

He is a product of Blackburn Rovers’ youth system.
