Tottenham Hotspur are slipping away in the Premier League title race due to a run of draws, Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were predicted to make short work of Leicester City at White Hart Lane on Saturday, but could only record a 1-1 draw against last season's champions.

Spurs have now drawn their last three league games in a row, against West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester, and as part of a run of five games without a win in all competitions.

As a result they have slipped down to fourth spot in the league table and could fall further if Chelsea can win later today.

Keown said on the BBC's Final Score programme: "I think that's three draws on the trot and they are slipping away.

"It's only three points behind and in fourth position, but Pochettino will want more because they were so close last year.

"That would have been a chance to get rid of all that disappointment – let's beat Leicester for a change.

"You have to match your immediate opponents' results and when you are playing at home, it's points that are being thrown away at the moment", he added.

Life does not get any easier for Spurs over the coming weeks as they host Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday before locking horns with rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium the following Sunday.

Then Pochettino's side have fixtures against West Ham, Monaco and Chelsea.
