Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has expressed his delight at seeing the Whites continue their good form, but stressed that there is a long way to go in the campaign.
The Whites are on a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions and beat Burton Albion 2-0 on Saturday.
Whelan, who played for the Championship side between 1993 and 1995, insists that their present form can stand them in good stead to make the playoffs.
However, the 41-year-old also took time to speak about the necessity of continuing with their current form as the league is a long one and doesn't end until May next year.
"Right now, we have got a great chance of getting in the play-offs because we are one point off but the season doesn’t end now", Whelan wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

"It ends in May and that’s a long way off.
"There’s loads of points to be played for and there’s going to be some ups and downs along the way."
Leeds' next four games are against promotion contenders Newcastle United and Norwich City followed by rock-bottom side Rotherham and an EFL Cup quarter-final match against Liverpool – and Whelan feels that how Garry Monk's team cope with the pressure in those four games will go a long way in determining their fate this season.
"We are on a great run at the moment but these next four games are real stiff tests. It’s still early on and if we have a glitch in that it’s important that we bounce right back.
"But we can look no further than Norwich and hopefully we are going to look from a better performance from Saturday.
"We got through it but there’s more to come from the boys and we know because we’ve seen it."
