Netherlands coach Danny Blind has backed Bruno Martins Indi's move to Stoke City, which is allowing him to play regular first team football.

The 24-year-old linked up with Stoke on a season-long loan deal from Portuguese giants FC Porto in the summer transfer window and has wasted no time in nailing down a regular first team spot at the Britannia Stadium.

Blind has not called the defender up to the Netherlands squad for games against Belgium and Luxembourg, but is pleased with the decision he made at club level in choosing to join the Potters.

"Bruno did not have the best time at FC Porto and was then gone from the team", Blind told Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

"He made a good transfer, in the sense that he is a solid starter there", the Oranje boss continued.

"And at Stoke City, who are certainly a nice team."

Martins Indi has made a total of nine appearances in all competitions for the Potters so far, a total which includes eight Premier League games, completing 90 minutes in all of them.

At international level the former Feyenoord man has won 31 caps since making his debut for the Netherlands in 2012.
