Chelsea new boy N'Golo Kante has revealed that he is relishing his midfield partnership with Nemanja Matic.

The France international, who played a vital role in helping Leicester City to the Premier League title last season, was roped in by the Blues for around £30m in the summer.

Kante has thus far made 12 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, managing one assist, with the 25-year-old’s partnership with Matic blossoming even further since manager Antonio Conte changed to a 3-4-3 formation.

Both holding midfielders possess the quality to win back possession and help out their side’s defence, while also offering a threat on the attacking front.

And Kante explained that he shares a good understanding with Matic, who has set up seven goals in 13 games this season.

“Chelsea have many very good midfielders, but most of the time I play with Matic and, yes, he’s a good player”, he said in the latest edition of Chelsea magazine.

“In training we have done a lot of work together, so in the game we can understand each other.

“When he goes forward, I stay back. When I go forward, he stays back. When you play together, it’s good to understand each other and I think it is a good partnership.”

Chelsea, who are currently just a point and a place adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool, have won their last five league games, scoring 16 times and conceding none.
