Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has remained coy on his long term future at Old Trafford beyond January, when the winter window swings open.

With Antonio Valencia out with a long term injury, Darmian has been getting more opportunities in recent weeks and has played in the last two Premier League games for the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho preferred to use the Ecuadorian over the more tradition Italian full-back at the start of the season, which led to speculation that Darmian could be on his way back to Italy in January.

Inter Milan have been heavily linked with a winter move for Darmian, but the player himself is not too keen to speculate over his future at Manchester United at this point in the season.

The Italian remains keen on focusing on the task at hand and remained non-committal about a move away from Old Trafford in January.

Asked whether he will return to Italy in January, Darmian told Rai Sport: “I do not know, it is too early to talk about the transfer window.

“Tomorrow I will go back to Manchester in order to prepare for a big game against Arsenal.”

Darmian has made just five appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season and has a contract until 2019 with the club.
