Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been dealt a huge blow in his chase for Mahmoud Dahoud, with Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl insisting that there is “zero chance” of the midfielder leaving in January.

Klopp is a big admirer of Dahoud, whose present contract with Monchengladbach runs until 2018, and wanted to take him to Anfield in the summer.

Although the 20-year-old stayed put at Monchengladbach, Liverpool have been linked with making a move for the Germany Under-21 international during the winter transfer window, while Borussia Dortmund are also keen.

However, Eberl, who stated that there is no chance of Dahoud leaving Monchengladbach in January, further explained that the Bundesliga outfit are yet to receive an offer for the youngster.

"There is a zero per cent chance that Mahmoud will leave in January”, he told German magazine Kicker.

"There is no offer for him on the table from any club and we have not had any offers for him in the past either."

Dahoud has thus far made 54 appearances in all competitions for Monchengladbach, scoring five times and setting up 11 goals.

The starlet made his first team debut for Monchengladbach in their 7-0 win over FK Sarajevo in a Europa League qualifier in August 2014.
