Inter Milan are becoming increasingly optimistic about securing the signature of Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian during the January transfer window.

The Serie A giants have been keeping a watch on Darmian since last summer, when Manchester United blocked any move for the defender, and are keen to get their man in the winter window.

Darmian was struggling to get game time under Jose Mourinho until recently, but with injuries to a few players, the Italian has been more of a regular face in the Manchester United team in recent weeks.

However, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, Inter are confident of landing Darmian in January and are growing ever more optimistic of seeing him in Nerazzurri colours in the second half of this season.

Juventus have also been keeping a close eye on the Italian defender, but Inter are convinced that they will be able to see off the challenge from the Serie A champions for Darmian.

He has made six appearances this season for Manchester United and has a contract until 2019 with the club.
