Rangers manager Mark Warburton has confirmed that midfielder Jordan Rossiter will not be available for selection this weekend, with the Gers due to play Partick Thistle at Firhill.

Rossiter joined Rangers from Liverpool in the summer, his signing being considered a coup, but has had a calf injury and recently suffered a setback in his bid to recover.

And the tigerish midfielder will not be fit in time for Rangers' clash with Partick Thistle, though Warburton did confirm that another midfielder, Josh Windass, and striker Martyn Waghorn are both available.

The Rangers manager said in a press conference: "Jordan Rossiter won’t be available this weekend but Martyn Waghorn is back in full training and will be available for Saturday.

"Josh Windass hadn’t trained until this morning that is why he came off last weekend, he had an injury and had a fat ankle on Sunday morning", Warburton continued.

"That has gone down now and he trained well today so Josh will be fine."

Rangers saw off Partick Thistle 2-0 at Ibrox in the Premiership earlier this season, with goals from Niko Kranjcar and Andy Halliday downing the visitors.

Partick Thistle have lost their last two games on the spin and Warburton's men will start as firm favourites to make that three for the side from Firhill.
