Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has given his backing to the club returning to the familiar turf of White Hart Lane in order to boost their chances in Europa League games.

The Lilywhites have hosted their Champions League games at Wembley, England's national stadium, this season due to construction work at White Hart Lane.

The outcome hasn't been fruitful for the north Londoners, losing both their Champions League games there – one against Monaco and the other against Bayer Leverkusen.

And the former Newcastle United man feels that a return to their home stadium would be important as it will provide them with that much needed familiarity, if they manage to remain alive in Europe.

"I think it would be good for us to play at home in the Europa League, and by home, I mean White Hart Lane", Sissoko was quoted as saying by ITV.

"Going home would make it easier for us.

"We know the stadium and it would be better for us."

Mauricio Pochettino's team, who have already been knocked out of the Champions League, will qualify for the Europa League if they manage to avoid defeat in their final group stage match against CSKA Moscow on 7th December.

Spurs are expected to continue at Wembley in the Europa League however, despite Sissoko's words.
