Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald has called on his side to bounce back in the Scottish Premiership and claim a positive result against Rangers on Saturday.

The Jags, who are heading into the game on the back of a 2-0 loss to Motherwell last weekend, presently find themselves 11th in the league table with just 13 points from as many games.

On the other hand, Rangers are currently third in the standings with 23 points from 13 games, 11 adrift of leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand.

And Archibald, who admitted that his side were not up to the mark against Motherwell, urged Partick Thistle to show a response against one the league’s “better teams” at Firhill.

"We were really flat last week so we are looking for a reaction from the guys and this game gives us a platform to go and play”, he was quoted as saying by the Evening Times.

“We can't have anyone feeling sorry for themselves, especially against the better teams.

"They like to have a lot of possession – we know that – but it's about making sure we are in our right shape and we take care of the ball when we get it ourselves."

Rangers, who returned to the Scottish Premiership after a gap of four years this season, beat the Jags 2-0 in the league earlier in the season at Ibrox, with Niko Kranjcar and Andy Halliday being the goalscorers.
