West Ham United are planning to sign Simone Zaza permanently before then looking to sell him to an Italian club in January, according to Turn-based daily Tuttosport.

The striker, who joined West Ham from Juventus on a season-long loan deal in the summer, has thus far endured a poor spell in England.

Zaza is yet to open his goalscoring account for the Hammers, despite clocking up 557 minutes over 10 appearances in all competitions for Slaven Bilic’s team.

The 25-year-old has been tipped to return to Italy in January, with AC Milan and Napoli interested in snapping him up; Napoli have also asked West Ham about Zaza’s availability.

West Ham, who are keen to offload Zaza too, however, want to make his move permanent before selling him back to an Italian club during the winter transfer window as they are already paying a loan fee of €5m for the forward.
