Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has saluted the concentration his team showed to break down a ‘defensive’ Sunderland team at Anfield after the Reds won 2-0.

Sunderland frustrated Liverpool’s attackers for the majority of the game as they kept a deep defensive line, but the Reds finally found the breakthrough when Divock Origi found the back of the net in the 75th minute.

And James Milner sealed the deal for the home side when he converted a penalty in the 91st minute and win three points for the Reds as they moved to the top of the league table.

Klopp admits that Sunderland are one of the most defensive teams he has ever encountered and though he feels that his side found it difficult to break them down, the Liverpool manager lauded his team’s effort in finally getting the win.

The Liverpool manager was quoted as saying by the BBC: "There is a lot to analyse.

“This was the most defensive team I ever saw in my life.

"Sunderland always play a defensive style and that is OK.

"We forced them to be that.

“It is the most difficult thing in world football to come through but we stayed concentrated, worked for the moment and found a way."

Following their EFL Cup exertions against Leeds United on Tuesday night, the Reds will face Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth next weekend.
