Former Premier League hitman Jan Aage Fjortoft has told Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to shut up and start winning.

Mourinho was left unhappy yet again at the weekend as his Manchester United side could not beat West Ham United and had to make do with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

To add salt to the Portuguese's wounds, he was sent to the stands for kicking a drinks bottle in anger on the touchline after reacting to Paul Pogba being booked for simulation.

Mourinho has been charged by the FA with improper conduct and Manchester United are sixth and eleven points off league leaders Chelsea, while they are eight off fourth placed Arsenal, after 13 games.

Fjortoft believes that Mourinho must stop moaning and focus on winning football matches as, unlike former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, he is in no position to rant at the authorities.

"I think that Mourinho is overdoing this thing", Fjortoft said on beIN Sports' Soccer Sunday.

"You can only do that when you win titles and you can talk yourself out of lack of luck or everything.

"But people look at the table.

"When Sir Alex Ferguson had a go at every manager or had his [mind] game, he was always first on the table or second on the table.

"You can't cheat the Manchester United fans by being 12 points [11 points, ed] after the leaders.

"I think it's time for Mourinho now to start winning and shut up."

Next up for Manchester United is another game against West Ham at Old Trafford, this time in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

They return to Premier League duty on Sunday by travelling to Goodison Park to play Everton.
