Former Wolfsburg coach Klaus Augenthaler is unsure why Julian Draxler wants to quit the Wolves, but feels it may have something to do with the money on offer in the Premier League, where he has been linked with Arsenal.

The Germany international has repeatedly been mooted as a target for Arsene Wenger's Gunners, while French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with making a move for his services.

Draxler has made clear his desire to move on, despite only joining from Schalke in 2015, but Wolfsburg have so far blocked an exit.

And the former Wolfsburg manager insists that money may have a big role to play in distracting the youngster, tilting his mind towards the more lucrative offers.

"He said he wants to go. Maybe to England, where there is much more money", Augenthaler, who managed Wolfsburg from 2005 to 2007, was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

Giving his impression of the former Schalke man, the 59-year-old said that when he first saw him three or four years ago he identified Draxler as a talent with real potential.

"I saw Draxler three to four years ago.

"He was a big talent with much skill.

"Now at Wolfsburg, maybe it's not his team."
