Chris Sutton says Rangers are "miles away" from being a side capable of finishing second in the Scottish Premiership.

Mark Warburton's men were second best at Tynecastle against Hearts this evening as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat which saw the Jambos jump above the Gers and into second place.

Goals either side of half time from Robbie Muirhead were too much for Rangers to handle and, with the visitors on the back foot, they had goalkeeper Wes Foderingham to thank for avoiding a heavier loss.

Rangers supremo Dave King wants the Gers to finish at least second this season and Warburton insists his squad are good enough to do so.

But following the loss at Hearts, Sutton cannot agree.

"Dave King talks about wanting Rangers to be a strond 2nd…Miles away on tonight's evidence. Hearts terrific", Sutton wrote on Twitter.

And he added: "2-0 didn't do Hearts justice."

Rangers now look towards hosting Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday, before then Hearts visit the ground the following weekend.

Both matches now look crucial to deciding whether Rangers can push to finish in second spot behind Celtic.
