Kemar Roofe is of the opinion that Leeds United can beat any team if they play as they did during their 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

The Reds dominated the proceedings early on at Anfield, but Leeds clawed their way back into the game after the break and even hit the post through Roofe’s effort at the beginning of the second half.

But Liverpool proved to be too tough for Leeds as two late goals from Divock Origi and Ben Woodburn settled the contest in the hosts’ favour.

And Roofe believes Leeds are capable of beating any team if they manage to replicate their performance against the Premier League giants.

“I think if we play like this every week, we can beat any team”, he said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“It’s eleven versus eleven at the end of the day, but as long as we are putting in the performance, we have a good chance.”

Roofe went on to add that during the half-time break and also after going a goal down, Leeds were confident about getting something out of the game.

“Yes, of course [at half time we thought we could win]”, he continued.

“Even when we were a goal down, we still had the confidence to keep going.

“We still created chances, just couldn’t take them.”

Leeds will next face Aston Villa in a Championship fixture at Elland Road on Saturday, with over 32,000 tickets having already been sold.
