Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi believes there is no reason for the Gunners to be happy with their Premier League placing, despite the club being firmly in the title mix after 13 games, just three points off leaders Chelsea.

The Gunners are in good form at present with their first loss in the last 19 matches overall coming in the form of a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Southampton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Germany international insists that he and his team-mates would be more than happy to stay at the top, though he knows that the task is in no way easy.

Reflecting on Arsenal's 3-1 win against Bournemouth last weekend, Mustafi said that the games keep on coming and therefore it will be crucial for his side not to be complacent but continue on the same path.

"I would be happy to stay on top.

"The job was to get the three points [against Bournemouth].

"Then in two days and three days we have again the next game and it keeps going and going", Mustafi told his club's official website.

"There is no point to be happy now – there are still a lot of games to go. We have had a few games where we have scored in the last seconds.

"It just shows we are a team that believes until the end and that’s what we’re going to keep doing."

The Gunners, placed fourth in the league table, three points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, will play West Ham this weekend at the London Stadium.
