Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has praised the attitude shown by Diego Costa on the pitch over the last few weeks.

A dagger has been hanging over the Spain international since he picked up his fourth yellow card of the season against Arsenal in mid-September, but the striker has shown remarkable composure since then.

Costa is yet to pick up that fifth yellow card which would mean he will be suspended for a game and has been in remarkable goalscoring form, hitting five goals in his last seven league appearances.

Conte has insisted that Costa is still showing passion on the pitch, but has been more measured and has looked more composed during games in recent weeks.

He is pleased to see the headlines surrounding his behaviour on the pitch have receded and the Chelsea boss is keen to see his leading striker continue to play his football in a positive manner.

The Italian said in a press conference: “He is showing great respect, patience and passion during these games, but in the right way.

“It's fantastic for the club.

"It's great to talk about him in a positive way and not a bad way.

“At the start of the season the only questions were about his patience and trying to change his behaviour.

“Now it's important to continue in this way.”

Costa has scored ten goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season and has looked rejuvenated under Conte.
