Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes the time was right for Divock Origi to make an impact, following the striker’s recent impressive performances.

The Belgium international, who has been sparingly used by Klopp in the present campaign, has scored in the Reds’ last two matches in all competitions.

Origi came off the bench and broke the deadlock during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League last weekend before scoring another similar late goal to help his side beat Leeds United by the same scoreline in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

And Klopp, who feels it was the opportune time for Origi to make his mark, went on to laud the 21-year-old’s attitude.

“Timing is really important”, he said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“It has exactly been two weeks since Divock was back in good shape and he was ready for the specific moment. I think everybody could see the difference.

“He is still very young, just 21, and he has had not much match time.

"He had very little rhythm. But he was always working, never moaning.

“It was really nice to see.”

Origi, who is yet to start a Premier League game this season, has thus far clocked up 495 minutes over 14 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool in the ongoing campaign, scoring four times, with three of those coming in the EFL Cup.
